Preperations

I am so happy to learn you guys do/wanna celebrate Imbolc. Since it is short notice to get your hands on Celebrating Great Mother, I thought I would let you in on a little of our plans. The Badger goes to public school and my husband works late, so we will try to get as much done tomorrow as schedules and temperaments will allow. The rest we will save for the weekend.

Imbolc is traditionally the day in which the candles for all the family celebrations are made, signifying the coming of the light. One of the activities in the book is to make a light garden and plant the "seeds" of your dreams for the year. I am very excited about this. I love to dream and more than that I love to hear the dreams of my little ones. You find a container and fill it with dirt (we are using an old aluminum lasagna pan). You then write a dream or hope for the year on a small piece of paper and plant it in your garden. Then each dream gets a lit candle planted above it and as the candle burns it carries your dream into the great whatever. After your dreams have been carried the dirt can be tossed into your compost bin and used in spring planting! Doesn't this sound so wonderful? Oh my, I have made so many typos my fingers are flying with excitement. Here are some things I am considering wishing for, well for sure I am wishing for chickens and a coop. (all from my pinterest)

For dinner we are having individual pot pies and dirt brownies. The pot pies signify the hidden potential and goodness beneath the surface, and I don't think I need to explain dirt brownies.

We will also play music, a wonderful way to awaken your inner spirit and help raise vibrations to help the Earth grow. The book suggest making your own instruments and even tells you how to make a rain stick. For time purposes we are going to use already made drums and rain sticks.

I really feel connected to this holiday. Maybe because I feel some energy stirring inside of me like I have never felt before. I feel like an oak, standing tall and proud while something magical happens within me.It is an exhilarating feeling, yet at the same time there is a stillness. A stillness that comes with knowing feeling you are on the right path.

How will you celebrate Imbolc? I would love to hear.
